Romelu Lukaku has regrets over Chelsea move

Romelu Lukaku regrets joining Chelsea so early in his career

Romelu Lukaku regrets joining Chelsea at such a young age, but admits it was impossible to reject the Blues’ lucrative offer as an ambitious 18-year-old.
The Belgium international, who has spent the last two seasons away from Stamford Bridge with West Brom and now Everton, feels he should have stayed at Anderlecht for a little longer instead of joining the west London outfit in August 2011.
Lukaku endured a frustrating debut campaign at Stamford Bridge under the management of Andre Villas-Boas, making just 12 appearances all season, before finally getting an opportunity to shine with the Baggies during the 2012-13 campaign.
But Lukaku, who turns 21 next month, revealed another reason why he regrets joining Chelsea too early in his career.
“I would love to play in a team with my brother Jordan,” he told reporters. “I also regret when I left at Anderlecht. It is the only decision in my career which I regret.”
But, justifying his decision to join the Blues, Lukaku added that he was not in a position to say no to the offer of Chelsea, who made him promises that he simply couldn’t turn down.
The powerful 6ft 3in striker, who has scored 30 Premier League goals over the last two seasons, is poised to return to his parent club at the end of the season. However, with reports claiming the relationship between Lukaku and Jose Mourinho has broken down, the Belgian could be headed for the Stamford Bridge exit this summer.
Arsenal and Tottenham are both keen to sign the gifted youngster, while another possibility is that Everton retain Lukaku’s services by extending his loan deal for another year.
