Robert Downey Jr. has revealed there are no plans for a fourth instalment of Iron Man.
The 49-year-old actor, who starred as Tony Stark – aka Iron Man – in the last three instalments of the
Marvel made movie revealed the man with the iron heart may only appear in forthcoming Avengers movies.
Speaking to Variety at the Toronto International Film festival Downey Jr. said: “There isn’t one in the pipe. No, there’s no plan for a fourth Iron Man.”
Downey Jr, who was at the festival to promote his new film The Judge, is currently signed with Marvel Studios and Disney for two more Avengers movies that are set for release next year and in 2018, so this could be the last time he will portray a superhero.
Speaking about if he would cast anyone else as Tony Stark he said: “I like that the idea is that it would be up to me, like I’m casting director for Marvel.”
