The 25-year-old Swede’s future has been a topic of much conjecture over the last few weeks after an impressive season in the Bundesliga where he was Leipzig’s main creative force.

Forsberg played a major role in Leipzig finishing as runners-up behind Bayern Munich in their first season in the German top tier and has naturally attracted attention from several clubs in Europe.

Arsenal have been heavily linked with a move for Forsberg but AC Milan are the ones who have been doing all the running over the last few weeks to snare him away from Leipzig.

The Rossoneri have already established contact with the player’s representatives and are pushing hard to sign the Swede from the Bundesliga outfit during the summer window.

According to our source, his agent is set for a crucial round of talks with Rangnick in the next few days, where Forsberg’s future will be up for discussion and the interest from AC Milan is also expected to be mentioned.

The winger’s agent, Hasan Cetinkaya, recently oversaw Victor Lindelof’s big money move to Manchester United from Benfica and has remained cryptic regarding the Swede’s future at Leipzig.

He said: “Emil will be my next project.”

The 25-year-old scored eight goals and provided 22 assists in 30 appearances in the Bundesliga last season.

He has a contract until 2022 with Leipzig.
