Things you don't Know About the Olympic Gold Medalist

The 27-year-old veteran of the U.S. women’s national soccer team scored one of the two goals that gave the defending Olympic champions a 2-0 victory over New Zealand in their opening game last week, and then they toppled France on Saturday to all but clinch a spot in the quarterfinals.
Named U.S. Soccer Female Athlete of the Year after her breakout performance at the 2012 London Games, Morgan headed to Rio this year as already one of the most talked-about stars on Team USA—and she obviously has plowed right through the pressure with the same ease she dribbles around opponents on the pitch.
You have to watch the video to get all the goods, but may we just say that we love how the last thing Morgan had Googled before she talked to us was the scoop on a 12-year-old girl who’s making history as a youth league tackle football player.
Just as the Team USA women and their fellow female soccer studs around the globe have inspired girls to follow their dreams (on the field and beyond), so in comes the next generation who will continue to break down barriers, set records and pave the way for more equality in sports.
As a spokeswoman for the Always #LIKEAGIRL campaign, which empowers girls to play sports, Morgan knows the importance of self-confidence and having the support of a team. Plenty of kids have looked up to her, and it’s awesome to see her showing her support for those following in her footsteps.
