Infection of various organs in the body with the Lassa Fever Virus.
By eating food or drinking water which has been contaminated by the urine or excreta of an infected house rat.
Can be spread from infected rat to man by direct contact.
Spread could come from man to man when infected blood, urine or secretions contaminates broken or punctured skin.
It is not transmitted from man to man by inhalation or insects. And children are rarely affected.
